Citizens of the United States, Canada, Bermuda, and Mexico traveling to and from certain destinations will need a passport or other accepted documents to enter or re-enter the United States. Anyone traveling across the U.S. border by air, land, or sea will be required to present a passport or valid identification for entry.
On June 1, 2009, the U.S. government will implement the full requirements of the land and sea travel. The proposed rules require most U.S. citizens entering the United States at sea or land ports of entry to have a passport, passport card, or other accepted travel documents.
If you have questions or need more information, please contact the U.S. Department of State.
For 30 years, Interval International has been committed to providing our members with the highest quality exchange network and customer service in the vacation ownership industry. Thus, Interval has adopted policies and procedures that best serve the entire membership base. We make every effort to be sensitive to extraordinary circumstances that impact our global network and our members’ ability to occupy resorts that have been adversely affected by such circumstances.
It is important to note that Interval does not own or manage vacation ownership resorts. That role is played by your home resort to whom you pay an annual fee that ensures your unit, the common spaces, and the resort amenities are properly maintained. Instead, Interval operates as an intermediary between you and our resort affiliates in order to fulfill your exchange requests.
As you are most likely aware, unlike a hotel reservation system, Interval’s exchange system is a closed network and is dependent upon both the deposit and request activity of our members. In most circumstances, we fulfill the exchange requests from the inventory that we receive from members who deposit weeks against such resorts. We have complex models and a highly trained staff to ensure that the delicate balance between deposit and exchange activity is achieved in order to fulfill members’ vacation requests.
In the unfortunate and rare event that resort accommodations become unusable, one of three scenarios will apply:
If a member has relinquished a week that has been verified by the home resort as available for use by Interval, the member has an unredeemed deposit that can be used for future vacations upon payment of the applicable exchange fee. Once verified, Interval will honor members’ deposits even if the deposited week becomes unusable in the future.
If a member has not relinquished his or her resort week, Interval can not accept a deposit at a resort that is not usable or located within a destination that is severely damaged.
When a member accepts an exchange or Getaway confirmation, Interval strongly recommends the purchase of travel insurance to protect the vacation. A member with a confirmed vacation at a resort that becomes unavailable or otherwise deemed unusable due to its location within a destination that is severely damaged, who has elected not to purchase travel insurance, will risk losing his or her vacation.
Despite the foregoing, Interval may provide alternate accommodations on a space available basis when circumstances permit upon the payment of an administrative fee.
We hope that this information is helpful in explaining how we operate in the best interests of our entire membership base. Please contact customerservice@intervalintl.com with any questions.
